Firm Helps Secure $15 Million Settlement Against Anthem

On August 12, a California judge granted final approval of a $15 million settlement the firm helped secure against Anthem Blue Cross. The settlement ended four class actions each alleging the insurer misled more than 700,000 consumers about coverage under Affordable Care Action compliant health plans.

The class action alleged that Anthem misrepresented the coverage of new ACA-complaint plans in 2014 which led some consumers to obtain services from doctors they believed were in network. These consumers later discovered that the providers weren’t covered and the services had to be paid out of pocket. Michael J. Bidart and Travis Corby from the firm represented several healthcare consumers.

This lawsuit was brought along with Consumers Watchdog as well as a few other law firms.
