Michael J. Bidart Named Insurance Lawyer of the Year for the Inland Empire

Best Lawyers announced today that Managing Partner Michael J. Bidart was named Inland Empire Insurance Lawyer of the Year for 2017. It’s the second time Mr. Bidart has been recognized by Best Lawyers as a “Lawyer of the Year.”

Mr. Bidart was recognized for his work representing health insurance consumers in their fight for justice against large insurance companies.

Among his most recent, notable cases, Mr. Bidart represented Anna Rahm in her lawsuit against Kaiser Permanente. After Ms. Rahm began experiencing lower back pain in August 2008, at the age of 16, she sought treatment from a chiropractor. When those treatments proved unsuccessful, the chiropractor told Rahm to go to Kaiser and get an MRI. Kaiser physicians repeatedly refused to order an MRI for Rahm between March and June 2009, the firm said. When the hospital finally ordered an MRI in July 2009, it was discovered that she had an osteosarcoma — an aggressive tumor — in her pelvis, which ultimately required the amputation of her right leg and removal of half of her pelvis and parts of her spine. In March of 2015, a Los Angeles jury awarded Ms. Rahm a $28.2 million verdict.
