Samuel Bruchey Awarded 2020 “Street Fighter of the Year” by Consumer Attorneys of the Inland Empire
Claremont, Ca (January 21, 2020) – Samuel Bruchey was awarded “Street Fighter of the Year” by the Consumer Attorneys of the Inland Empire (CAOIE) for his $2.537 million verdict on behalf of a Temecula couple who lost their home to foreclosure after their title insurance company denied their insurance claim.
Mr. Bruchey’s clients, Keith and Patricia Jones, bought a parcel of undeveloped land in Temecula in 2012 and began building a home on the property. When the couple discovered legal access to the parcel did not exist – preventing them from paving a road or connecting utilities – they filed a claim with their insurance company, Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Company. Commonwealth denied the claim, eventually causing the couple to lose the property to foreclosure.
The case took three years to litigate and nearly one month to try. In the end, the Riverside jury unanimously found that Commonwealth acted in bad faith. It awarded the Joneses $1.55 million in damages. On motion, the Court then awarded the Joneses an additional $1 million in attorney fees, costs and interest.
Mr. Bruchey joined the firm in 2007 after a successful career in journalism and quickly worked his way up to partner. His practice focuses on insurance bad faith, personal injury, catastrophic injury, and wrongful death. He has earned tens of millions of dollars for his clients and has a successful track record of achieving justice on behalf of his clients.
The CAOIE award is only the most recent honor Mr. Bruchey has been received. He’s been recognized by Super Lawyers magazine as a Rising Star every year since in 2016. This year, Super Lawyers magazine named him an Up-and-Coming Top 100 Attorney. He also serves on the Board of Governors of the Beverly Hills Bar Association, and is a member of Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles, the Consumer Attorneys of California, the Consumer Attorney Association of the Inland Empire, among other organizations.
