Stockton News Outlet Runs Story on Singh Family
The Record ran a story on the Singh family which is still recovering from the tragic death of wife and mother Misty Holt Singh in a shootout with police two years ago.
The article highlighted both the family’s struggle to deal with their loss and the ongoing litigation against the Stockton P.D.
Misty was killed in a bank robbery gone wrong when she was taken hostage from a Bank of the West. A high speed chase ensued, as did a shootout that saw officers fire 600 rounds as Misty was used as a human shield by one of the armed robbers. A subsequent police foundation report found “the 600 shots police fired at the end of the bank robbery were excessive and unnecessary, with some officers only firing their weapons because other officers were shooting,” according to news outlet KCRA.
An SBE attorney is quoted by The Record as saying:
“The family is very appreciative that Bank of the West stepped up to the plate to resolve the matter. We truly hope the city will do the right thing and resolve this matter, too. Unfortunately, it has not happened yet, so we are going forward with litigation. The Singh family would like to put this behind the city of Stockton and move forward.”
