CAALA Honors Lupe Flores
Lupe Flores, Senior Paralegal at Shernoff Bidart Echeverria LLP, was recently honored by the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles. Ms. Flores is the Vice Chair of CAALA’s Legal Staff Committee and in December she was presented the Presidential Award for outstanding contributions to the association and was highlighted at the 2019 CAALA Gala on Saturday, January 12, 2019. She and Sheri Dempsey from Greene Broillet & Wheeler, LLP are the first legal staff to receive a presidential award.
Ms. Flores has been at SBE as a paralegal for ten years and is one of the most senior staff members of a firm that has been in existence for over 40 years. She works closely with the partners and associates managing cases from inception to conclusion including helping to prepare cases for trial and extensive client contact. She works out of the firm’s Claremont office, but helps to manage cases across California and the U.S.
CAALA appointed Ms. Flores to the leadership of its Legal Staff Committee in December 2017 and has since been integral in helping train legal staff throughout Southern California. Lupe has been a speaker at both CAALA and CAOC conventions for the past two years and conducts training at CAALA staff events.
As an integral part of the SBE litigation team, she has worked closely with its trial lawyers in some of the largest verdicts over her career. Most recently, she worked with the team that obtained a $68 million verdict in Fresno County Superior Court in a medical malpractice case. She also supported the team that won a $17 million verdict in Riverside Superior court on behalf of a man who had his right leg amputated below the knee after being backed over by a forklift.
