Daily Journal Honors William Shernoff as Father of Bad Faith
The Daily Journal published a piece titled “William Shernoff marks 50 years as father of bad faith insurance law.” The DJ did a special Q and A with Bill to discuss the history of this tort, the Egan v. Mutual of Omaha case, and hwo it’s impacted the law in California and nationwide.
Mr. Shernoff, called the father and the godfather of bad faith, pioneered one of the few new torts in the 20th century. He’s defined an area of law that has helped consumers hold insurance companies responsible for the very policies they’ve written. Because of his efforts, people in California and nationwide have greater rights and freedoms when it comes to insurance law.
